Mina Mahoney

It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of Mina Elizabeth Mahoney on April 27, 2011. Born on December 5, 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, growing up there until she decided to make her home in Terrace Bay, Ontario in 1953. Mina lost her short battle with cancer with her family and closest friends by her side at the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay. She enriched the lives of everyone she touched. Mina is survived by her son Bryan Mahoney and his wife Nora; grandchildren Robbie, Wendy and Sean Mahoney; great granddaughter Avia Mahoney; sister Flo Small (Doug) from Richer, Manitoba, many nieces and nephews and the daughters she wished she had, Bonnie Borsa, Debbie Seidel and Lynn Black. Predeceased by her mother, father, sisters Vimi, Margaret and Helen and brother Jack. She prided herself in her 40 plus years of work at The Terrace Bay Hotel and later to be Birchwood Terrace senior citizens home, where she made endless wonderful friendships that she cherished all her life. Celebration of her life will be held in Terrace Bay at her beloved Community Church on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
