Murray Withenshaw Obituary

May 17, 1948 - October 24, 2016

Mr. Murray Gordon Withenshaw of Dorion, Ontario passed away at St. Joseph's Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. Murray was born and raised in Port Arthur. He graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate before attending Confederation College, graduating in Business. His love of cars inspired him to pursue a career as an Automotive Mechanic. Murray and his brother Dave started their own garage, D & M Automotive 35 years ago and it is still thriving today. Murray loved his family, loved his friends and loved life. He was the type of guy who would do anything for you. His garage door was always open for anyone to drop for a visit and 'cold one'. The discussions included his passion for sports, golf and football being his favorites. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and his four legged best friends Finnegan and Jake. His other passion was restoring old cars, a beautiful '56 Chevy and a '64 Chevelle. Both he and wife Donna loved camping and fishing. They spent many months travelling much of North America. In recent years, they would spend their winters at their home in Anthem, AZ, definitely one of Murray's favourite places. He cherished the new friends he made there. Again his garage door was always open there inviting anyone to drop by for a visit. Murray is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna and children Scott (Trish), Kristin, Shauna-Lee, Carrie-Anne (Dave), Russell (Laurie), Michael (Adam), his grandchildren Beaumont and Sydney. He also leaves behind his brother, Dave (Kathy). Murray was predeceased by his parents, Millie and Gordon, his brother Glenn, his sister, Joan, a very special cousin and close friend, Leonard Reid and his dear Uncle Figgy Rubin. A Memorial service will be held at St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church at 675 Red River Road, Thunder Bay, On Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 at 2:00pm.
