MYLES CIZMAR Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Myles Cizmar born February 1, 1948 announce his passing on September 29, 2024. Myles was the love of my life and best friend. Never would I have dreamed that I would meet such a kind, gentle, caring and beautiful person, he was my knight in shining armour. He was a loving and nurturing father to our boys, Chris and Brett and cherished any time he spent with them. He was so very proud of them. Myles' family was from the East End of Thunder Bay and he embraced his Slovak roots. He looked forward to the family gatherings where his mom lovingly prepared the traditional Slovak feast and the sharing of stories and laughter with his brother Gerry, sisters Dianne and Geralyn and families. Myles had several jobs throughout his life before his career with the City of Thunder Bay as a Supervisor of Recreation. He was passionate about developing opportunities for the youth and said he was fortunate to work with such a great team of people. Upon retirement, Sharon and Myles headed west and retired in beautiful Summerland. His only regret in moving, was the distance between his son Chris and his beautiful granddaughter Maci. Myles had a great sense of humour and made us laugh right to the end. He was an excellent listener and was open to new ideas and learning. Myles prided himself in maintaining a healthy mind and body. He enjoyed the outdoors; running, cross country skiing, biking and tennis until his Parkinsons no longer enabled him to do so. He was a die hard Habs fan, and had a passion for music; the Beatles or Doobie Brothers were playing regularly, there was no escape! There are not enough words to describe the amazing person he was. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors, and at the end, the staff at Moog Hospice House who cared for Myles during his medical journey with Parkinsons and Leukemia. Your care and compassion made a lot of difficult times easier, we always knew he was in good hands. Myles is survived by his loving wife Sharon, sons Chris (Jessica), Brett (Nicole), granddaughter Maci, sisters Dianne Cameron and Geralyn Cizmar, mother-in-law Eleanor Carter, brothers-in-law Andy Speak (Pat), Robbie Speak (Joyce), Larry Speak (Shereen), Rob Speak (Michele), sisters-in-law Karen Kruchio (Rob), Eleanor Howland (Andrew) as well as other family members. Myles was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Cecile Cizmar, brother Gerry Cizmar and his wife Donna, brother-in-law Don Cameron, Aunt Helen Jetko, fathers-in-law Robert Speak and Bill Carter, mother-in-law Marilyn Speak. As per Myles' wishes, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held with family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation can be made in Myles' memory, to Parkinson BC or Pro Kids Thunder Bay.

The warmth of his love will be with us always.
~Love you and miss you,
Sharon, Chris, Brett, Maci, Jessica and Nicole

I knew Myles through his job at City of Thunder Bay and also through Marilyn and Bob Speak who lived right across the street from my parental home. He was a great guy to work with and always was happy and cheerful and greeted everyone with a smile. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
