On Sunday, October 26, 2025, Myrna Jean Westerback (Campbell), surrounded by family, passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
Myrna Jean was born in Port Arthur to Harland and Margaret Campbell. She completed her education at Prospect Public School and Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, where she first met her future husband, Lars.
After graduating high school, Myrna Jean began her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia. In 1953, she married Lars, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey of family life, welcoming four children: Eric, Robert, David, and Karen. Myrna Jean dedicated her life to raising her family, filling their home with warmth and love. An avid baker and knitter, she delighted her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with cherished homemade items, including sweaters, hats, mitts, and her famous chocolate cake and fudge. She also enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends, embracing every opportunity for social connection. Every weekday at 11:00 AM, Myrna Jean could be found enjoying her version of happy hour, relishing an episode of The Price Is Right accompanied by a cup of tea with her close friends.
A woman of deep faith, Myrna Jean attended First Baptist Church for most of her life, later finding joy in the Urban Abbey. Her lifelong friendships flourished within her First Baptist adult fellowship group and later with her beloved Bible study ladies. She instilled in her children the values of faith, respect, generosity, and humour.
Myrna Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children: Eric (Peg), Rob, David (Jan), and Karen; her grandchildren: Ashley (Jurgen), Matthew (Julie), Andrew (Kamila), Greg (Mykhaela), Alyssa (Blake), and Isaac; her great-grandchildren: Blake and Kenzie; her sister-in-law, Shirley Westerback; and her great-nieces.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Lars, her mother Margaret, her father Harland, and her brother Douglas.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Scali for the years of outstanding care provided to Myrna Jean. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the staff on 3B and 3C, as well as the palliative care team at TBRHSC, for their compassion and support during this difficult time.
We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating the life of our dear mother on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Urban Abbey, located at 308 Red River Road. A short tribute to Myrna Jean will take place shortly after 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Urban Abbey or a
Charity of Your Choice would be warmly appreciated.
