It is with great sadness that the family of Nazzareno Tassone announces his passing at the age of 78 on March 5, 2013. Nazzareno was born in Serra San Bruno, Calabria, Italy on November 18, 1934 to Bruno and Maria Rosaria Tassone. In April 1959, he immigrated of Port Arthur alongside his brother Antonio in search of a new beginning. The following year, the love of his life Gina (nee Tozzo) joined him in Canada and they were married on May 28, 1960. Together they lovingly raised their five children, Bruno, Tony, Rosemary, Salvatore and Joyce. A man of honour, he always made sure to provide for his family. In 1988, he retired from The Great Lakes Paper Mill. He was a member of the Italian Cultural Center for over 30 years and could often be found playing a friendly game of cards at Bar Italia. Nazzareno had a passion for the outdoors and animals. He spent many days nurturing his animals, gardening and enjoying time with family and friends. His greatest joy was watching his five children and fourteen grandchildren grow up. He was a proud father who always aimed to instill good values and strength in his children. A child at heart himself, he always captured the love and admiration of children. Never one to pass up a good party, his happiest moments were sharing a glass of his homemade wine with family and friends as they gathered together in celebration.
