I am sorry to hear about Nick's passing. It has been a long time since I last saw him. I was actually looking on line wondering if I could locate Charlie, who I went to high school with and knew his brother Nick had been living in Thunder Bay. If this messages works it way around to Charlie I like to express my condolences. My personal email address is [email protected].

Stunned to hear about Nick. Just recently he sent me the obituary of an old friend, Syd Pettit.
Who knew that mere weeks afterward he would be gone.
I saw Nick many times at Ken Dawson and Mary Robinson's and of course, we were around each other in the late 60's and 70's.
His passing doesn't make much sense. He was a gentle and thoughtful soul.
I know he'll be missed.
So sorry for his childrens' loss.

My condolences to John, Charlie, Carly and family - I'm so sorry for your loss.
Nick was at the Manitouwadge Reunion here in London and then at the 50th Anniversary Reunion, so was fortunate to reconnect with this kind and gentle man. He will be missed but his spirit will always be with us.

Ah Nick so sorry to hear of your untimely passing. I'm sorry I did not know your family but I send my sincere condolences. You have lost a great character! Nick and I connected during our tenures at L.U. We were thereafter chatting buddies. After retirement I was always glad to meet up during our walks around Boulevard. Rest in peace Nick.

To Nick's family - I was very saddened to hear about your loss. Once Nick and I were close friends and several years ago we reconnected. I hadn't seen Nick for over two decades when we had coffee, on a visit to Thunder Bay. It was fun to recall the "good old days", our adventures together, Manitouwadge folks, archeology folks as well as Nicks pursuit in the arts field. I remember John and Charles (and their parents) with fondness. I'm fortunate to have some special memories of Nick. I'm thankful that he was blessed with children and grandchildren and many friends and hope they have wonderful memories to hang on to on this journey of grief.

Nick hung around with a bunch of us in Manitouwadge including his brother John, Bernie Schwartz, Gary Erl, Grant Goodwin,Dave O'Dell and Rory Hawes.
He introduced me to the game of pool in his basement where we spent many hours smoking, and telling lies.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
My condolences to His Family & John

Ah, Nick. You will surely be missed. I was fortunate enough to have Nick call me a friend back in Manitouwadge. He didn't march to the beat of the same drum as the rest of his peers. Even as a teen, he walked his own path, and God love him for it. He was a very cool character. Like Rory said, he was a bit of a nut when it came to motorcycles. The last time I saw nick was in the hospital in Thunder Bay, where he was recovering from a pretty significant bump on the head from a motorcycle accident. He wasn't able to speak due to his brain being swollen, ( no he didn't have a big head,)so I pretty much did all the talking, and that was the only time during our friendship that I was able to dominate our relationship with my own thoughts .
Rest in Peace, Nick.
My condolences to John and Charlie, Nick's children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
He was one of a kind and the world will miss him.

I hung around with Nick and John as much as they would tolerate me.. I'll never forget Nick's booming laugh. He once rode a motorcycle from Ft.William to Manitouwadge and wasn't properly dressed for the cool weather. He made it to Bessie's Restaurant, and was so hypothermic he could only honk the horn, but he knew we would be there. We rushed out and lifted him off the bike and brought him inside. He couldn't talk for an hour, but he finally managed to laugh, so we knew he was alright. What a guy. The memories are flashing by, but all I can add is my sincere condolences to the family. Take care of each other, Charles and my old pal John.
