Olga Ball

Dec. 16, 1916 - Aug. 9, 2003It is with profound, heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Olga Ball. Olga was born in Saskatchewan and later met Alfred Ball while she was serving as a member of R.C.A.F. in World War 11. Olga and Alf were married July 26, 1944. they moved to (Port Arthur) Thunder Bay and had one daughter, Barbara Ann. Olga loved meeting and interacting with others and took great pleasure working at the Hodder Hotel,and then at the Prince Arthur Hotel as a hostess until her retirement. Her daughter Barbara's friends came to know her as 'Mom' because of her constant care, concern and delight not only in meeting them but also in thinking of them as extended family.Olga's greatest love shone when she spoke of her grandsons, Ricky and Randy Ruston. her passion during her frequent interactions with Ricky and Randy showed the pure, boundless, unconditional love she felt for them. She wrote to Ricky in B.C. , and he wrote to her, constantly.Most recently, Olga's love, joyfulness, and dedication enveloped her new 'furry' roommate Thax 'Baby' - a cat given to her by her grandson Randy.Olga was an outstanding seamstress and delighted in sewing, kniting, cooking and playing cards. she enjoyed shopping for incidentals, and especially looked forward to going to the US. for a 'yellow' eggs breakfast. A simple phone call from her, saying 'Wanna', meant we were on our way to fun day.Mom is survived by and missed with such a deep, intense loss by her daughter Barbara (Ruston Rojik) Tuttle, her grandsons, Rick Ruston (B.C. - enroute) and Randy Ruston (here), and son-in-law Larry (Kenny) Tuttle.She is also survived by and will be profoundly missed by her brother-in-law Art and wife Mavis Ball; her brothers Steven Mysak (Vancouver, B.C); brother Orest and wife Mary Mysak (Canora, Saskatchewan) - enroute; brother Arthur and wife Vicky Mysak (Punnichy, Saskatchewan); sister-in-law Bernice Mysak (Canora, Saskatchewan). many others whose hearts she touched also feel an emptiness inside where she had occupied a loving spot for so long.After fifty-six years of marriage, in April 2000, Mom suffered the loss of her husband, Alfred George Ball. She was also predeceased by her brother Walter Mysak; and her son-in-law Larry Rojik in May 2002.There will be a memorial Service for Olga Ball on Friday, August 22, 2003 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Surrey Street at 2:00 p.m. Should friends desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.Mom. . .I love and respect you so much and always will."
