OLIVE DASEY Obituary
OLIVE DASEY 1924-2023
Olive passed away August 12th, 2023 at the Fairview Manor, Almonte, Ontario. Family were at her side as she passed quietly and peacefully from COVID. She was 98 years old. Olive immigrated to Canada from the U.K. in 1945 as a war bride and moved to Port Arthur, Ontario with her new husband Ben Dasey. She was a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Church. Well known in Thunder Bay as an active friend, hostess, avid gardener and antique collector she was a bundle of energy and inspiration to all who knew her. She was a dedicated homemaker who raised her family of eight children with humour and flair. After Ben's death, Olive moved from her family home on Marlborough Road into the Waverly Towers. Failing eyesight caused her to relocate again. She moved first to Paipoonge and Toronto and then to Carleton Place in Eastern Ontario to be near her grown children. She was predeceased by three of her children, Barbara, Catherine and Lorraine. Olive is survived by daughters Carol (Doug McKessock), Kristine (Glen McDougall), Theresa (Ron Smith) and Patricia and her son Robert (Wendy). She leaves twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grand-children. She was always GG to them and they adored her unconventional spirit and feisty nature. She will be greatly missed. Gambles Funeral Home, Almonte, has been entrusted with her care. A family wake in Carleton Place, will be followed by interment at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ontario where she will once again join her husband Ben. Interment will be in the family plot on Friday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. Daughter, Lorraine, will have her ashes interred at the same ceremony. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Garden Walk, Fairview Manor who were always kind and attentive to Olive. Their hard work and devotion was greatly appreciated.
