Olive Olson Obituary

September 2, 1930 –
December 22, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother at the age of 92 with her family by her side. Olive is survived by her children Lavina, Colleen, Timothy, Harley (Bev), Valerie (Pete), Kim (Louis). Grandchildren, Tammy, Joey, Randy, Shane (Anna), Olivia (Mike), Rylan (Lindsey), Greg (Shady), Lindsey, Wayne, Shanlee (Curtis), and 11 great grandchildren, as well as her fur grand babies and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Jim, her father Martin Kennedy, mother Mary and stepfather Bill, twin sons' infancy Wayne and William. Her in laws Florence and Harold Olson. Olive was active in many community organizations including South Neebing Womens Institute, Happy Hallows Camper Association of Oliver Lake, Rural 60 plus and West Thunder Community Centre as well as Army and Navy bowling League. Mom enjoyed many years of dance, cribbage, gardening, crafts, painting and hosting many corn roasts. Mom was an excellent scratch cook and baker, often in competition with dad for the best homemade bread, cinnamon buns and soups. Always preserving and sharing the amazing bounty they grew every year. Mom had a few jobs before becoming a full-time loving mother including photographer's assistant, lift operator for Royal Edward Hotel, but nothing meant as much to her as her 20 plus years at the Fort William Country Club, which you may have thought she owned it herself. She cherished the many friendships she made with her co-workers and members alike. At one point she was asked to be the GM. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is TBA. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local Charity of Your Choice. The family wishes to thank the healthcare team at Aurora Clinic and Dr. Chris Francis for looking after mom throughout the years. We cannot thank enough the emergency staff, from the caring paramedics, the wonderful nurses, Jacob, Carly, Madison, The RT (we're sorry we didn't catch your name) and Dr. Heringer at TBRHSC.

To Olive´s family
I worked with Olive at The Fort William Country Club for several summers and I remember your Mom with fondness. She seemed so worldly to a young teenager and was generous with her patience and humour. I am sorry for your loss of her.

My condolences, may her walk with the ancestors be filled with joy and peace and may her light forever live in your heart. I worked with her at Fort William Country Club and enjoyed every moment, she always had a smile and I have to say I absolutely loved her Lemon Meringue Tarts especially the one that slid off my plate and I caught it right between my knees lol we laughed so hard. I was and still am quite clumsy lol which gave us a lot to laugh about. I remember stepping on a creamer that fell between the garbage cans and of course I stepped on it and had cream all up my legs lol We never had a dull moment, she helped make my first real job an absolute pleasure. I will remember her very fondly. Sherry and Condolences from Tom Duce and the rest of us as well.

Hello, Colleen and family. I worked with your Mom at the Ft Wm Golf Course for several years. We had some good times in that kitchen and I remember your Mom fondly. I thought she was the GM? :) All the best at this sad time.
