Ossi Silvennoinen Obituary

It is with deep sadness we advise the passing of Ossi Ilmari Silvennoinen Age 84 in Thunder Bay Ontario on November 10, 2018. He was born on January 1, 1933 in Pöllakka, Finland, and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He worked in the logging industry for Kimberley Clark; primarily in Longlac raising his family with Elna. They retired to Thunder Bay in 1993. Ossi is survived by his wife Elna (Taskinen), his sons Reijo, Barry (Rhian), Kari (Wendy) and Rauno (Teri), his daughters Kirsi (Al) and Pirjo (Beaulieu) as well as his grandchildren Crystal & Leija, Raili; Nick & Tyler, Casey Cody, Hallie & Randy; Rachel, Tym & Jai. Ossi is also survived by his six great-grandchildren - Gabe & Von, Levi & Emmy and Aubryn & Kali. Ossi's brothers Ahti (1978) and Kyösti (Hilka) (2012) predeceased him, but he is remembered by his nephew Tony and niece Nina/family. We will all remember Ossi for his quick sense of humor, his love of family, hockey, the accordion and a well cooked meal. Ossi was a competitive athlete in his youth, passing on to his children a love of sports as well. A celebration of Ossi's life will be held Thunder Bay, Ontario in July 2019. Donations gratefully declined.
