Patrick Courtney Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Patrick Terrence Courtney, age 47 years, at the Winnipeg Health Science Centre on February 21, 2003, after a heroic battle with serious injuries sustained in a house fire. Pat was born in Fort William on November 18, 1955, one of seven children born to Doris and Jerry Courtney. He attended local schools, St. Martin, St. Patrick's High and then Sault College. He was a self-employed building contractor, mechanic and a skilled craftsman. An avid fisherman, Patrick loved the outdoors and shared this with his many close friends and family. His antics with his dune buggy in the mud or racing on the ice at Oliver Lake are renowned. His curious mind with a fascination for discovery was well known. Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. To measure a man, measure his heart. Pat will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his mother Doris Courtney in 1995. Survived by his father, Jerry, brothers Keven (Paula), Daniel, sisters Maureen (Brian) Fron, Karen (Jim) O'Connor, Cathy (Dan) Popowich, Colleen (Alan), Hogan and 'special friends' Tanya Wheeler and her daughter Madison. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Agnes Church, 1019 Brown Street. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27,2003 in St. Agnes Church at 12:10 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Francis Pudicherry.
