A Celebration of Life for PAUL HELENIUS
will be held 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5, 229 Van Norman Street
Paul Matt Helenius, a.k.a. Phat Paulie, passed away suddenly at the age of 58, November 8, 2024. He was born October 4, 1966 in Port Arthur to Antero and Vuokko Helenius. He was a much awaited and loved little brother to Teuvo and Sari. Paul attended Cornwall Public School and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Although Paul was a quiet, kind and gentle person, he was very witty and had a dark and dry sense of humour. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping, and music. Paul was a great cook, and would make some terrific meals. Growing up, Teuvo would include Paul in all he did, fishing and camping, playing street hockey, ball hockey, watching and cheering on the Canadiens. Paul is predeceased by his parents, grand parents Kalle and Irja Helenius, Veikko and Sanni Wennström, great aunts Sisko Ranta-Ojala and Sinikka Myllymaa, and his best friends Bob Topping and John Blair. Left to mourn Paul's passing are his brother Teuvo Helenius and his friend and sister-in-law Peggy Pelletier and as Paul would always say, his favourite niece Paige Sheare, sister Sari Sheare, step-mother Liisa Oksanen and step-sister Irma Oksanen, dear friend Eeva Solomon, Uncle and Aunt Veli and Fern Wennström, cousins and other relatives in Thunder Bay and in Finland.
