Paul Poirier Obituary

Mr. Paul Emile Poirier passed away peacefully at Roseview Manor, April 5 2021 at the age of 96. Paul had a long and full life. He was born December 14, 1924 in Ste. Simeon Bon Aventure. Loving son of Adelme and Julienne Poirier. In 1947, Paul married the love of his life Archange. In the early 1950s Paul and Archange made a move to Beardmore where Paul worked the mines and started his own little taxi service. A few years later Paul hearing about work in the woodlands set off with Archange and family in 1957 and made the move to Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) where he worked in the forest industry. Later advancing to his own trucking business "Poirier Bourdage Trucking" hauling logs for Great Lakes Paper retiring at the age of 57. Once retired Paul and Archange were able to enjoy their golden years. Many years were spent as a snowbirds, travelling to Florida where they had a home "apartment" in Hallendale. Where family would often visit. Through the summer they would spend their time at their camp at Shebandowan and Nelson's camp on Lake Windgosigon. Where we children and the grandchildren would often visit. They also travelled to Quebec often to visit brothers, sisters, family and friends. As many of you who knew Paul, you would often see him working out on a treadmill at Push or visiting at the car wash sitting and chatting with Nelson to pass the time away. owever, Mom did keep Dad busy though, for he now became Mameres personal delivery boy - often he would come knocking on all our doors, smile on his face, armed with bags of homemade jams, jellies, pastries, homemade bread and of course mameres famous meat pies. All of us loving his little visits. Some of our fondest memories of Dad was his singing, playing his harmonica and playing his accordion. Dad and Mom loved life and they lived it. Paul absolutely loved and adored his children and grandchildren. He was an amazing father, grandfather and great grandfather. Paul was the father of 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Dad, "Papa" you are so loved and will be greatly missed. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we loved deeply becomes a part of us." Paul is survived by his six children; Ron (Shelley), Linda (Domenic), Diane (Dennis), Gaston (Kathy), Nelson (Janet), Allen (Connie), his grandchildren Jennifer, David, Joey, Mandy, Nicole, Shannon, Celine, Lisa, Shane, Sandy, Kenny, Kelsey, Haley and Darby, as well as 20 great grandchildren, brother Gerard and sisters Therese and Germaine. He was predeceased by his beautiful loving wife Archange and loving grandson Kurt Martell, brothers Michelle, Henry, Reynald, sisters Gabrielle and Rose Mai. The family would like to thank the staff at Roseview Manor for the special care that was given to Paul. To the Poirier family: It is with sadness that we heard about Paul’s passing. We have tremendous good souvenirs with Paul and Archange when we met in Gaspésie and Florida. We will remember uncle Paul as a generous and happy good man. He always held his heart in his hands and was always happy to see us. We offer you our deepest condolences!
