Paul Reid Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our Beloved, Paul Joseph Reid. Born in Kingston, Ontario and raised in Kincardine, he spent many years in Sault Ste. Marie before coming to Thunder Bay in 2009.

Paul was driven and inspired by his love for music - it is where he found solace, connection and passion. Making music was his favourite pastime, and he was most at peace with a guitar in his hands. Passionate about the environment and the outdoors, he was a musher, a paddler and a great explorer. A gentle, kind-hearted, generous and nurturing spirit, he saw the good in everyone. He had a beautiful sense of humour, which he used to bring a smile to others. He was self-less and whole hearted in his giving to others. Through his work, his music and his personal life, he touched the hearts and lives of many. Paul had a Child and Youth Worker Diploma from Sault College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Community, Economic and Social Development from Algoma University. He spend many years supporting youth and families in Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, and advocating for Indigenous communities, equity, and social justice.

Survived by his pride and joy, his sons, Aven and Ronan Reid-Chevrette, his sister, Kate Hagan (Gary Hagan) and his brother Steve Reid. Predeceased by his mother Annabelle Jaquith, his father Stephen John Reid, his beloved uncle Paul Reid and his sister-in-law Ingabritt. Loved by Lee-Ann, Hugh, Isabelle, Katie, Leo, Sophie, Liam, Marg and Jean and countless others.

I did not know Paul for a long time but I felt like I knew him forever and I will miss him dearly. Paul was a kind gentle soul with the biggest heart who cared about the world around him and the people in it. We had amazing conversations and encouraged each other to do better and be better; we shared a love of music and shared many a song. It's true, he was happiest when he was holding his guitar and it was able to share his music with you - I looked forward to hearing more. I am heartbroken. My thoughts and prayers are with his boys his family and friends. Rest in peace, my dear friend, Paul.
