PAULINE BODNAR Obituary

PAULINE BODNAR
Pauline Aili Bodnar, age 72 passed away peacefully December 11, 2024 at TBRHSC with family by her side.

Pauline was loved and admired throughout her work and personal life. At an early age, her life revolved around her family, especially her Mummu and Pappa, along with her children and grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. Cooking, baking, sewing, travelling and summers spent at Pass Lake were her greatest passions. Her favourite joy was Christmastime with her tradition of preparing dinner on Christmas Eve and being surrounded by family and friends. Only days before her passing, she was out shopping for her Christmas baking supplies and selling her vibrant quilts at the craft market.

Following her lifetime career at TBRHSC-NWO Stroke Network and mental health services, she retired to her hobby farm in Kaministiquia, with her dear lifelong friend, Elaine. They took great pride in their horses, goats, chickens, alpacas, dogs, cats and so many other "critters".

Pauline will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by daughter Lisa Lavallee; sons Bill Savor, John (Melody) Lavallee; grandchildren Mathew Viikeri, Mallory and Ben Savor, Abby and Devin Lavallee; sisters Chris Harasyn, Judy Gillis and brother Rick Munn.

Predeceased by spouse Mike Bodnar; grandparents Aili and Eino Toivonen; parents Miriam Munn, Paul Milenko; and uncle William Toivonen.

The family of Pauline extends their gratitude to Dr. Mike Chang, Dr. Chan, and Dr. Haggerty, as well as the nurses and staff at TBRHSC Cancer Centre, Emergency department and ICU, especially Sheila, Hannah and Julia for their outstanding care. Thanking dear friends Elaine, Cindy, Edna, Marie, Mary Ellen and Margaret for their support.

Mom's "adventure" may have ended but her love and memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her!

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Pauline's memory to "Paws for Love Dog Rescue" in Thunder Bay.

A celebration of Pauline's life will be held in the Arbor Lounge of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. with words of tribute being offered at 1:00 p.m.

The tributes will be livestreamed and archived at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca where condolences may be offered as well.

Pauline was a force to be reckoned with but always tempered with a great sense of humour & humility.
May the love of family and friends ease the grief and sense of loss.

I only just saw this obituary today. I am just so sorry to hear of Pauline´s passing
Lisa and Billy I so remember you kids at the farm riding horses and ponies and all hanging out in a little gang. You mom was a wonderful person and even though I only saw her occasionally my memories are wonderful. Thinking of you. Cathy Lewis. Your old neighbour

My father was married to Pauline for about 9 years, if I remember correctly. Pauline was ALWAYS very loving and kind to my sister throughout, and I even after her marriage to my dad. And, when my dad passed away, she helped out with his remembrance. She was even very good to my daughter in later years. I have very good and positive memories of her and will always have a special place for her in my heart. Pics are of Pauline on her horse and me, my sister, Bill and Lisa.
