It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing away of Peter Gutmann with his family by his side, at TBRHSC, Friday, June 23, 2017. He is grieved by his loving wife Ingrid of 58 years and his sons James, Lenny (Lori), Michael (Gina), Peter (Carrie) and his grandchildren Jennifer (Ron), Karlee (Eric), Lindsey (Dillon), Maxton, Samuel, Ella and his great grandchildren Arya and Raija. Peter immigrated from Germany to Thunder Bay along with his parents in 1956 and worked various jobs but, Thunder Bay Hydro became his lifelong job for 40 + years from which he retired. In that time he made many friends of whom he left a lasting impression, “The Cat” as he was fondly called by many. His passion was fishing on Lake Superior. Pete and Ingrid picked up a piece of heaven when they acquired Prince Bay. From that day forward that was where Pete and Ingrid could be found building, and later enjoying the fruits of their labour out on the lake, with Pete's "jewellery box" that was his tackle box. Many friends and family had the opportunity to experience Prince Bay and all its glory, with Pete and Ingrid as their hospitable hosts. A son, brother, son-in-law, husband, father, uncle, friend, grandfather and Opa, as some of us called him has left us, but remains lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. Relatives and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Peter's life that will be held Friday, June 30th, 3:00pm, at the Airlane Hotel.
