Peter Levis Obituary
Mr. Peter Levis age 71 years, resident of Pearl, ON passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday April 4, 2002. He was born in Sturgeon Falls, and moved to Fort William with his family as a young man. He married Arlene in 1958 and together they raised their family of four girls. In the 60s, construction of the camp at Pearl started and it eventually became the home they loved and lived in these past 15 years. Peter's working years were spent within the pulp and paper industry, initially at the Abitibi Mission mill and later with Donohue Industries in Clermont,PQ. In the 80's and 90's he worked with the Chemical Engineering department at Lakehead University where he spent his time trying to make sure the students who passed through his labs learned something about pulp and paper but mostly were prepared for life in the real world. He was well known for his pragmatism and no nonsense approach to getting things done. Over the years he was at Lakehead he maintained his industry contacts and helped many technologists and engineers find work in the paper industry. Above all, he was proud of his family and the lives that each built. He loved his home at Pearl and his dock rebuilding efforts around the swimming hole will be no doubt be missed.
