Peter Stonys Obituary

Peter Stonys age 86 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, died in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. Peter was born June 21, 1917 in Pluje, Lithuania. He came to Canada in the early fifties and lived in Toronto for one year. He then moved to Northern Ontario to work in the Woodlands Division of Abitibi Pulp and Paper until his retirement in 1977. He married Stella Stec in 1978 who predeceased him in 1984. Some of Peter's favourite pastimes were swimming and playing cribbage with his friends. Peter is survived by his stepson Dennis (Sandra) Stec, Winnipeg, their sons Ryan, Ottawa and Deryk, Montreal, stepdaughter, Debbie (Bill) Barrett, Terra Cotta, Ontario, nieces Marie (Mickey) Arvelin and Wilma MacLeod, both of Thunder Bay, nephew Larry (Donna)Stec, Hamilton, great nieces and nephews Diana (Darryl), Ninivirta, William Arvelin, John (Cindy) MacLeod, Jan (Jamie) Hatzis, Jo-Anne (Russ Yake) Tait and Susan Tait and relatives in Lithuania. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 10:00am in the Blake Funeral Chapel, with Rev. David Gillen officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. A tree will be planted in memory of Peter Stonys in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
