Peter Joseph Watson passed away after a lengthy struggle with COPD on his 83rd Birthday on May 31, 2022, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Peter was born in Watford, Ontario to parents Charles and Christeen (Fraser) Watson and was raised in Oshawa. His work career started at the early age of 15 at the General Motor Plant, building 1955 Chevys. In 1957, he started working with his father Charles as an apprentice glazier for Pilkington Glass. In 1967, he moved to Thunder Bay and worked as a glazier at Pilkington Glass, Ford Glass, and AFG Glass until his retirement in 2002. Peter served as the President of Local 1671, Painters and Allied trades union, for 20 years. Peter was a hard worker always committed to the best job possible. If family, friends or neighbours needed anything, Peter was quick to respond. He was a family man, deeply proud of his children and grandchildren. Peter had a sharp sense of humour and loved to use one-liners. When asked "How are you, Peter?" the signature response was 60/40.
Peter is survived by his spouse Maria (Romanello) of 54 years celebrated on May 25th, 2022, his daughters Elizabeth Watson (Heath), Christeen (Watson) Tilmon, and son Michael Watson. Grandchildren Matthew Watson, Ryan Tilmon, Jake Watson and his mother Melissa. Niece Cathy Rumsby (Tom), and nephews David Mills and Eddy Mills. He is also survived by in-laws Louis and Joyce Romanello, Pierina and Larry Bryan and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Christeen Mills.
Cremation has taken place.
