PHILIP EDDY Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Phil Eddy, a beloved father, husband, brother, son and friend. He passed on October 7, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospice with family by his side after a courageous struggle with cancer.

Born on November 15, 1960 in Port Arthur, Ontario and raised with his nine siblings on Rockwood Ave., Phil was surrounded with friends and family. He attended Corpus Christi, EQ Jennings and Hammarskjold High School. He was first employed with Selectomatic Games with his best friend Peter Franzen, repairing pinball machines and video games. This led to a lifelong hobby of repairing anything mechanical. He went on to get his class A truck driving license and eventually his gas fitter's ticket. He was an incredibly dedicated and hard-working man who enjoyed his time working at several roles including Superior Propane, where he became Branch Manager in Thunder Bay and his post-retirement job at Milne & Sons.

Throughout his life, Phil enjoyed the outdoors which led to many camping trips in the area and across the country with his family. He had a passion for fishing, boating, travelling, mechanics, and antique cars. He loved his family near and far and often travelled to spend time with them. His special place was his boat slip at the Marina where he spent many hours boating and fishing on Lake Superior.

Above all, he loved his beautiful daughters. Spending time with them, watching them grow up and build their own families, was the joy of his life. His laughter, his stories and his spark for life will always be cherished by those who love him.

Phil is survived by his wife of forty years, Suzanne (Baril), daughters Meghan Eddy (Sean Bode) and Sarah Fish (Kyle), and his grandchildren, the light of his life, Phineas and Maeve Eddy-Bode, and Joan and Lucy Fish. He is also survived by siblings Mary Curtis (Victor), John Eddy (Olivia), Christine Thomson (David), Elizabeth Edwards (Bill), Robert Eddy (Sharon), Phyllis Holdsworth (Chris), Herman Eddy and Kenneth Eddy. He will be missed by his mother-in-law Joan Baril and his sister and brother-in-law, Simone and Daniel Laatu. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and grand nephews and nieces.

Phil is predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy Eddy (Nicholson), his brother James, his infant sister Margaret, and his nephew Allan Curtis.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on October 29, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Best Western Norwester Hotel.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Regional Cancer Centre, TBRHSC oncology and emergency departments and St. Joe's Hospice. Your compassion and caring supported all of us.

If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.

Phil has been a dear friend for over thirty years. He was very proud of his wife, children and grandchildren and spoke about them often. Phil and I spent many hours telling stories and Phil loved to talk about all his life experiences. He was a great friend who loved life and you could see it with everything he did and how he interacted with his friends and family. Phil will be sorrily missed in my life. Our sincere condolences to the Eddy family.
