RALPH MAURO Obituary

December 1, 1938 ~ September 15, 2025
Mr. Ralph Fortunato Mauro passed away September 15, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinsons, with his family by his side. Ralph was a devoted husband of 62 years to his wife Shirley and the absolute best father to his 3 children and grandfather to three grandsons. He was very special to all of us and we hold him in our hearts dearly.

He retired from his position as the Research Accounting Officer with the Finance Department at Lakehead University in 1996.

Ralph participated in many things over the years, some of which include the Air Cadets, Rifle Club, Bowling, Curling and the longest and most recent snooker/pool. He spent a lot of time at the 55 Plus Centre in the pool room. He also enjoyed a bit of fishing and camping with his wife and much of that time was spent at Quetico or Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Ralph is predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Elena (Helen Fero) Mauro. His brothers Jim (Doreen) Mauro, Ron (Helen-Ann) Mauro, Frank/Squeeky (Lois) Mauro, Rudy Mauro and Alfred (Pepsi) Mauro.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Mackie) Mauro, his three children, son Bryan Mauro (Marita), daughters Melinda Mauro-Ethier (Jean), Helen Kenna (Greg). His three grandsons Christian Fortunato (Mauro) Ethier (Julia Bigelow), Cole Mauro and Kari Mauro. Sister- in-law Joyce (Rudy) Mauro, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to all the caregivers at Southbridge Roseview LTC on Shuniah St. for the care, compassion, respect, friendship and love you gave our father, and his family. We appreciate you all.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ralph on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the R. Leino Memorial Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 Cumberland St. N. With Rev. Joyce Fergus-Moore Officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. Come as you are.

Shirley and family, I'm so sorry to hear about Ralph's recent death. Always a favourite visitor at 481 Leslie and never without his beautiful smile. His family was blessed to have Ralph in their lives as he was of theirs in his. Love, Cathy Fero

So sorry to hear the sad news of cousin Ralph´s passing. I have fond memories of his frequent visits to 481 Leslie during the early days of Fero Construction. With his soft-spoken manner and his good sense of humour, Ralph always added fun and joy to our day. Sending love and condolences to you all. xo

So sad to hear about a former neighbour. I have good recollections about growing up on Hallam St. two doors down from Mauros; Melinda and I were pals in primary school. Sincere condolences to the family. I hope your memories of Ralph bring you comfort.

My uncle, my godfather and an absolutely wonderful man who will be missed by everyone who knew him. He created a lovely family with his loving wife Shirley. We loved him dearly
