RAY LEINO Obituary

Our big brother died on March 31, 2025.
He was born in Port Arthur on June 13, 1944 to Urho and Edna Leino ~ their firstborn. Then came David, Millie and Joy.

He was married to Virginia for almost 52 years.

It's ironic that a man, who for many years compassionately cared for countless families in their saddest moments, succumbed to death himself and is now the recipient of compassionate care in the funeral home he founded ~ Harbourview Funeral Centre.

Over the years, Virginia and Ray made many trips to Greece and other parts of the world. Some of our relatives enjoyed these trips with them. Greece was Ray's "happy place". He would have loved to have gone just one more time!

For years he also enjoyed his camp at Walkinshaw Lake, boating in our Thunder Bay harbour, attending the blow-outs at Uncle Wally's and other family get-togethers.

He was a landlord of an apartment building in the east end and the former owner of the Voyageur Motel. He always drove a nice car.

A little-known fun fact about Ray is that in the late 1960s he tried his hand at chinchilla ranching. That's all we'll say about that!

Funeral Services for Ray will be held in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025 presided by Rev. Fr. Konstantinos Tsiolas. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.

We first live across the street on Leslie Avenue from Ray and his family kitty corner from Glaude Garton School. His father bult a new home on Earl Street further North off Leslie Avenue in the Black Bay area. Shortly after our family also moved to Black Bay. Attended school with Ray throughout these years. Ray was always a kind, gentle and understanding individual. As life progresses we all will leave behind many things but memories are always there. My very best the the Leino family during theses time. Allan McIver Edmonton, Alberta.
