REINER FICKER Obituary
Husband to Ellen, dad to Cheryl and Derek, Opa to Oliver, Sophie and Emma. Dad loved adventure, meeting new people and the outdoors. From his time in the North working for Bell, to leading Scouts, to driving across the country with Derek in their transport truck, Dad loved to be on the move.
Over the last few years, dad drove a school bus with many stories of kids helping other kids, kindness and camaraderie with school officials. Dad's love of the outdoors included many family road trips / camping across Canada and the U.S., endless summer weekends on the sailboat and forest walks. Most recently, Dad and Oliver spent a fabulous adventure day on a Zodiac exploring the Lake Superior Coast and Dad never said no to "pool time" with Sophie and Emma.
His love of adventure and people has been passed to his kids and grandkids. It's such a gift. Dad was the love of mom's life. A trove of love letters between them paints a beautiful love story. They were together for almost 60 years. They built a life together, raised a family and enjoyed their grandkids. Dad and Derek are together now.

After Derek died. You took the time to call me and we chatted. I never did make it back to town before you passed on.

We are so very sorry to hear of Reiner´s passing. He truly was a kind and gentle man who took great pride in making sure our children were safe and happy while riding his bus. He always went above and beyond not only for the children but the families as well. He gave so much of himself to others with nary a complaint. We will miss his chats and that big warm smile of his. South 85 bus route will not be the same without him. Rest easy Reiner knowing you made an impact and touched so many lives.

Scouter Ficker was my scouter with 16th Fort William. He took us to the scout jamboree at Grey wolf in 1972. He inspired me to be a scout leader and an OPP Officer for 32 years. He taught us high morals and was a wonderful man

Reiner Ficker was a great Scout Leader during his time in Marathon. I never will forget the tour of the Bell Telephone Exchange he gave us in Marathon. The amazing thing was his apartment on the second floor . It was jam packed with aquariums. One thing that did rub off on myself with his leadership of youth , is my love of aquarium fish & spending time in the outdoors.. God Bless Reiner's Soul in Heaven.
