Rena Buchanan Obituary

(nee Jackson) July 28 1914 - June 7 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother Rena on June 7th, 2008 at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice, Kamloops BC after medical complications. Rena was 93 years young, born in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan. A long time resident of Thunder Bay and later moved to Kamloops BC where she resided until her passing. A loving, caring mother who had a heart of gold. She shared her love, compassion and knowledge of life with everyone she met and touched. Rena loved to do crossword puzzles, create quilts with love, play bingo and shop at her favourite stores. Family was of great importance to her as "she was the glue that held the family together". She leaves to mourn her death 9 children, seven sons: Tom (Marge), Albert, Raymond (Evelyn), Keith (Colleen), Douglas (June) of Kamloops, BC, Harry (Sharon), Richard (Maureen) and two daughters: Mary Radford and Dorothy (Elwood) Venton, all of Thunder Bay, ON. She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, one daughter-in-law Margie, one sister-in-law Audrey Jackson along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Ellis (Stacey) in 1958, sons Ellis in 1988, Donald (Bud) in 1996 and daughter Esther Petrie in 2002. She was also predeceased by one grandson George (Rick) 2007, two sons-in-law George (G.T. ) 2004, Roy 1988, as well as daughter-in-law Norma in 2002, six brothers and six sisters. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for the late Rena Buchanan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. John Schmidt. She will be laid to rest with her son Ellis in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rena's memory to the charity of your choice."
