RICHARD DARLING Obituary

DARLING SR.
April 22, 1945 - November 7, 2025
The family of Richard (Paddy) Darling Sr. sorrowfully announces his passing on November 7th, 2025 at the Nipigon Memorial District Hospital, with three generations of his family holding him in comfort.

Richard, at the age of 80, was a resident of Jellicoe for 59 years. He was born in Geraldton to Bill & May Darling, one of twelve children. Richard worked various jobs that contributed to his 'jack of all trades' skills, including firefighting, mining, railroad, electrical, plumbing, and snowplowing, however being a "Class A welder" for Trans-Canada Pipeline was his career of choice. His true passion was his family, trapping, and contributing to his community. Anywhere a hand was needed, Paddy was to be found.

Richard is survived by his children, Bella, John, Bev (Francis), Richard, Maryann and "his boys" Bobby & Bernard; by 45 grand, great, and great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Harvey (Gwen), Peggy (Reg), Anne, George (Toni), Fred, Charlie (Karen); in-laws, Harry, Maurice (Louise), Mary Jane, Maggie, and William; and by many nieces and nephews.

Richard is predeceased by the love of his life, wife of 59 years, Nora (pre Bottle, nee Chisel); his son Greg; infant daughter; and grandson, Brian; by his parents, Bill, and May; siblings, Samuel, John, Edward, Elaine, Isabelle; mother-in-law, Maggie (Peter); in-law siblings, Charlie, Ida, Matti.

A Funeral Service was held in Jellicoe, on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow with a graveside interment prayer on Thursday, November 20th, 2025 at 11 a.m., Beardmore Pinegrove Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Richard can be made to the Jellicoe Recreation Club, School building restoration fund. [email protected]

Richard's family would like to thank the Nipigon Hospital, especially Dr. Mike, and the amazing nurses; Hudson of Everest Funeral Chapel Waverley; Friends & Family who attended the funeral service, and those who contributed to the luncheon. The outpouring confirmed how much of a difference dad made in all our lives.

Arrangements have been entrusted to EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
