RICHARD HARASYN Obituary
RICHARD JOHN HARASYN March 10, 1950 ~ March 12, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Richard "Rick" Harasyn, beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend on March 12, 2026 just two days after his 76th Birthday.
Rick was born to Margaret and Delco Harasyn in Port Arthur, Ontario and spent part of his early life in Beardmore. His late teens took him to Toronto, Ontario where he graduated with a chef's degree from George Brown College. In the early 1970's, he moved to British Columbia with his family, where he worked in his parents' restaurant in Kelowna before eventually settling on the coast. In Vancouver, he began his 40 year career with Teamsters Local 155, working in the movie industry as a Transportation Captain. Ricky was fortunate to have a close and incredibly supportive group of friends, who were a truly remarkable source of support - a bond truly to be admired.
He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin in the woods but also enjoyed a day at the casino. He was a true animal lover and was especially devoted to his beloved dogs, Butchie and Rambo.
Ricky will be deeply missed by his children, especially his son, Richard Harasyn Jr, his daughter Tammy, his eldest son Nick along with his sisters, Susan (and Frank), Candace (and Frank), his brothers Grant (and Shelley), Delwin (and Janice) and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks and love to Wendy, Brownie, Dallas, Ellie, Dav and his friend and good buddy from childhood Gary for their support during this difficult time.
Ricky was a true definition of a genuine person. He certainly was a character that you do not forget! He gave us so many memories that will be with us forever. Rest in peace dear Ricky our hearts are forever with you.
