Rick Gilmour passed away May 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 56. He is survived by his loving wife Cathy (nee Dafoe), and the pride of his life, daughters Allyson and Meaghan (Seth Ward). Also missing him deeply is his mother Gayle, brothers Derek (Erna) and Michael (Kyla), father and mother-in-law Allan and Roberta (Bobbie) Dafoe, Cathy's siblings Doug and Sharon, nieces and nephews, special family the Meadows (Kenny and Phyllis), and many, many friends. Rick was predeceased by his father Garry. Rick was born in Dauphin, Manitoba and arrived in Thunder Bay in 1970. After graduating from P.A.C.I. he had a successful 30+ year career as a lineman with Thunder Bay Hydro until the start of his all-too-short retirement in 2014. In the days since his passing, stories, stories, stories... camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, travel, time with friends and much more. In lieu of flowers, please keep telling them. Share a memory or a photo, and remember Rick next time you're camping or boating on an area lake. There will be a celebration of Rick's life Thursday, May 19 at The Royal Canadian Legion, 209 Cumberland St. N, 1:00pm-3:30pm.

Sorry to hear about Rick's passing. Far too young. Growing up in T Bay, Rick, Jamie, Tom and myself had lots of great adventures and fun together. He will be missed.

Cathy, Allyson and Meaghan,
Sending you our heartfelt condolences. Brian and I had such a wonderful conversation with him last year. He filled us in on his girls and how proud he was of them. Thinking of you with sympathy.

So very shocked and sorry to hear about the passing of Rick. We had great times together camping & fishing those many years ago. Rest assured that Rick is probably in a boat somewhere fishing with Ed. Sorry to have missed seeing your family as I was out of town.

Our sincerest condolences to Cathy & family. We were extremely saddened to hear of Rick's illness and passing. A very tragic loss.
Rick was one of those "friendly giant" kinda guys. He always had kind words, stories or jokes for everyone around. We always looked forward to seeing Cathy & Rick at our occasional family gatherings or visits to the family camp in Jeleco. We always had enjoyable visits with him.
A kind man gone too soon.

Cathy and family so sorry to hear of the passing of Rick. Worked with Rick for many years and always enjoyed his company. His nick name was grumpy but he was far from that. He was a true gentleman. He will be missed. Sorry I'm unable to attend the service as I am out of town. I will be thinking of him as well as you and your daughters . Mario and Debbie Capasso

To Cathy, Allyson and Meaghan, my thoughts and prayers are with you. As per your request, I have shared a fond memory:
As a rookie at Thunder Bay Hydro, Rick shared his secret ingredient for turkey dressing with me. For the last 13 years I have added Italian sausage to my dressing and think of him each time and always have rave reviews from my dinner guests.
Thank you Rick for your kindness, you will be missed by so many.

Our deepest condolences to your family during this tough time.
Rick was a great mentor during my first 2 years with TBH. I will miss him telling me he really enjoyed my first couple months with him because i was quiet, after that you wouldn't stop talking.
Rest in peace Rick. You will be missed.
