RICK MARGARIT Obituary

RICK (MUGGSY) MARGARIT
With heavy hearts and profound sadness the family of Rick (Muggsy) Margarit announce his passing Thursday January 18, 2024. Born June 25, 1953 to Alfred and Sarah Margarit in Fort William, Ontario. Rick worked for Coca-Cola for 37 years. Rick and Barb (Hoogsteen) were married May 17, 1980 and were truly blessed with their beautiful children Laura-Leigh and Michael. Rick and Barb spent numerous wonderful years at their camp at Pine Point resort. That's where he taught both of his children how to fish. Also many nights were spent with friends and family at camp fires singing the night away. On June 27, 2021 his greatest accomplishment was born, Whalen Michael Margarit, Whalen was Papa's pride and joy and lit him up everyday he was able to see him. Rick is survived by his wife Barb (Hoogsteen), daughter Laura-Leigh (Leroy/MJ), son Michael, grandson Whalen and daughter-in-law Ashlee. Rick will be greatly missed by many family members, father-in-law Wiebe, Bob/Rena, Peter/Lena, Jean/Gary, Archie/Corrine, Sonia, Kenny/Conny, Gary/Sharon, sister Marcia/Condido, and multiple nieces, nephews and close friends. Muggsy was one of a kind often imitated never duplicated and will be truly missed. Celebration of life will be held at a later date in March.

Oh Muggsy! I'm going to miss you buddy, my neighbour at Pine Point for 30 plus years. You had a wonderful way of brightening up our campfires, fish frys and cocktail hours. I enjoyed our time swapping fishing, hunting and snowmobiling stories and they will forever be etched in my mind. You left too soon but you have no more struggle.

Our deepest heartfelt sympathies to Barb and family

My late partner and myself made many trips out to Pine Point and that was where we were introduced to this wonderful man. Always so friendly and giving of his time and fishing expertise to us. Muggsy will be dearly missed.
