Robert Currie Obituary

1941–2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert (Bob) William Thomas Currie, age 75, a lifelong resident of Kakabeka Falls on Saturday, February 27th, 2016. Robert was born in Fort William, Ontario on February 25th, 1941. His schooling began at Kakabeka Falls School before going on to Selkirk High School, where he met the love of his life, Ella Valimaa who he married in 1966. Robert was an entrepreneurial man; along with his father, they built and operated the “BP” Service Station in Kakabeka Falls. He worked on virtually every type of vehicle including heavy machinery with Maki Trucking. Later he owned a used car lot on Fort William Rd. in Thunder Bay. Bob also contracted his services throughout many remote First Nation communities. He finished his professional career as a partner in B & K Auto where he continued to pass on his trade skills to his sons, who both enjoy mechanical careers. Robert was passionate about cars in any fashion or form, especially racing. Besides being a fan he was also a driver during the days of the old “Exhibition” race track. His lifelong love of cars included selling, fixing, racing and restoring. But at the end of the day, there was nothing Robert put ahead of being with, and caring for his family. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife Ella Currie, his sister Janis Sheffield, parents Janet and Robert Sr. He is survived by sons Bill (Jennifer) and Kyle (Judy), daughter Lillian, grandchildren Adam, Hailey and Brandon, beloved nieces Lisa Sheffield (Dean) and Jolyne Currie (Ronald). Our family would like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses and care providers for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of choice. Friends and family will gather at the Kakabeka Royal Canadian Legion Branch 225 for the funeral service celebrated by Pastor Chris Fiorito on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date.

Kyle and Billy...I remember your dad well, as he repaired all vehicles in our family, and shared a few cocktails with my father.
I loved his smile....
