Robert Dr. Obituary

1948 ~ 2021

On June 5, 2021 Bob took his final breath at the Pioneer Ridge Centre, Thunder Bay, ON. this wonderful son, brother, nephew and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 73 years, leaving behind a lifetime of special memories.

Born in Port Arthur, ON to Gladys and Medard Goulet, Bob was raised and educated in Thunder Bay, ON. He often spoke of fond childhood events and the many changes he witnessed within the city. He loved his frequent family trips to Duluth, Minnesota for quick “get-aways.”

Bob attended high school at Port Arthur Collegiate and then pursued post-secondary studies at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB. Receiving his P.H.D. in the discipline of Psychology was an exceptionally proud time and it would provide a framework for a significant professional career to follow.

Bob's employment at the Northwestern Regional Centre as the Supervisor in the Psychology Department focused upon delivering services to developmentally challenged individuals. He later joined the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital where his commitment to helping others continued. Bob was devoted towards his belief in a person's ability to establish positive changes.

His caring and respectful disposition could be felt by anyone meeting him. Bob was always a very warm, kind gentleman who demonstrated integrity and honesty in all of his actions.

His particular interests included attending performances at the Community Auditorium and Magnus Theatre. Eating-out at local restaurants was a great source of socializing with friends and family. Bob also enjoyed travelling and fondly recalled his visits to Great Britain, France and Greece. He appreciated historical and cultural differences and any opportunity to learn more about other civilizations. Listening to an eclectic range of music and watching old, black and white movies were among favorite pastimes.

Special people in Bob's life included his aunt Jackie Saunders, his cousin Mike Saunders (Thunder Bay), his niece Karin Palinka and her family (Nelson, BC), and his beloved friends Shirley and Kristopher Karas (Thunder Bay).

He is predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Don Magnuson.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
