ROBERT GRASLEY Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Grasley, 72, announce his peaceful passing with family by his side on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. John was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and spent many of his years in Current River where he enjoyed going for coffee at Robin's and having a beer at The Hodder. He worked 37 years at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and after retiring, worked at Lakehead Burners, Vanderwees Home & Garden, and Home Hardware. He also was a dedicated member of St. Stephen's The Martyr Anglican Church, where he often helped with church projects, serving as a church warden, and attending the Men's Breakfast Club. John was a kind and generous soul who had a passion for helping people. He spent numerous years volunteering his time on the board of the Apple Credit Union, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Most importantly, John was a loving husband and father. He always looked forward to their family camping trips at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park every year. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Heather, and their sons Joshua (Mariah) and Jamie. He is survived by his brothers Larry (Sandi), Wayne (Marilyn), and sisters-in-law Maureen and Michele as well as his Lynch siblings Ron (Donna), Kelly (Mireille), Susan (Stan) and James (Karen). John is cherished by his mother and father-in-law Betty and James Whatley as well as sisters-in-law Janice (Johnny) and Susan (Kevin). He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. John is pre-deceased by his father, James Grasley, mother Geraldine Lynch-Grasley, step-dad Patrick Lynch, brothers Glen and Barry Peter Grasley and Terry Lynch.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of the TBRHSC 1A Unit and the Cancer Clinic, specifically Dr. Ibrahim, RN Kirstin, and PA Carolyn. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations towards the Northern Cancer Fund.

A funeral service for John Grasley will be held Monday, September 22, 2025 at Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Canon Ed Swayze at 12pm. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11am.

I met John in the early 1980s but did not get to know him until later in life. He was an incredibly talented, funny, driven and principled man who I was happy to call a friend. I will miss him.
