ROBERT GROOMBRIDGE
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our husband and father, Robert Thomas (Bob) Groombridge, at the age 86 years at Thunder Bay Regional transition wing on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.
Dad was born and raised in Thunder Bay with his 9 siblings. As a young man, he worked at Richardson's elevators, moving onto the Radar base in Sioux Lookout as a civilian worker. He returned to Thunder Bay for a position at Canada Manpower as an employment counsellor until his retirement.
After retirement, he was able to enjoy travelling, spending his winters in British Columbia, Florida, Texas and also Arizona.
Dad loved his golf, and trips to the Casino's. Helping out at Professional Fireworks shows with his son. He looked forward to his meetings and luncheons with the Legion Manor, (where he served on the board for 20 years), his Friday buffets and He loved his sports on TV, baseball and hockey would almost always be on.
Predeceased by his parents William and Catherine, brothers Bill, Harold, Alf, and Dave, sisters Jean, Ethel and Winnie and his first wife Irene.
Dad will be deeply missed by his wife Claire (O'Bright) and son Bill (Debbie), his daughter Crystal Bradica (Chris), stepson Arthur O'Bright (Teresa), and his stepdaughter Helen Grace (Phil), brother Hughie (Peggy), and his sister Marion Brescacin (Loris), brother- in-law Ernie Bailey and grandkids Mitchell, McKenzie, Kyle, Daniel, Alyssa, Noah, Jacqueline, Ben and Jackson.
Dad did not like anyone fussing over him and as per his wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends and family are invited for a simple celebration of Bob's life on October 19, at the Slovak Legion in the Solarium from 11am-3pm, tea and coffee will be served.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
