ROBERT "GEORGE" MORROW
George Morrow, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Born to Pearl and Albert Morrow, the eldest of six, George grew up on the family farm at Corbett Creek in Murillo and often spoke fondly of his childhood there. He left home at the age of 16 to work in small towns along the CPR railway line in Northern Ontario and Manitoba, learning the profession of telegraph operator. He always loved trains, reminiscing about the old steam engines from his youth. Enjoying a long, successful career with the CPR, he retired from the Thunder Bay Station at age 55, after nearly 40 years of dedicated service.
George's highest priority, pride and joy was his loving wife of 69 years Lorraine and their four children. He always loved babies and was enchanted with his 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. George and Lorraine loved hosting their family and friends at their lake home in Shebandowan and their winter home in Naples Florida, where they traveled each year in their camper van, exploring and visiting friends and family along the way.
George was a loyal friend to many over the decades, building close relationships with both friends and relatives while enjoying his many hobbies including fishing, boating, moose hunting and golfing. He embraced his hobbies with enthusiasm and commitment. George hand-cleared the land and built a beautiful family home at Goods Road. He was a jack of all trades, but above all, he was a woodworking craftsman and loved to spend countless hours perfecting his work. He handcrafted a wooden speedboat and many wooden canoes in his youth and numerous lovely pieces of furniture and unique live edge tables throughout his retirement.
George is survived and deeply missed by his daughters Anne Dorval (Tom) and Susan Lui (Dave) and son Louis Morrow (Melanie), grandchildren Michael (Callyn), Lisa (Trent), Jordan (Melody), Mikaela (Shawn), Gabriella, Andrea, Meagan, Riley and Sydney, great grandchildren Ethan and Georgia, brother Terry Morrow (Valerie), sister-in-law Barbara Morrow and sister-in-law Lorna Lehtinen (Herb).
Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his son Andy and daughter-in-law Paula Morrow, parents Albert and Pearl Morrow, in-laws Luigi and Ada DeLorenzi, sister Joan Romano (Floyd), brothers Dale (Marilyn), William and Robert (Beverley) Morrow, niece Sandra Morrow and nephew Brad Romano.
A Celebration of Life will be held jointly for George and Lorraine this summer. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations to St. James Anglican Church (10505 John Street Rd, Murillo ON, P7K 0W6) would be appreciated.
George's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Feldstein and the staff of Hogarth 3N for their compassion and dedication while caring for George. Special thanks to Kassidy for her care providing Video Call services. Arrangements entrusted to Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
