ROBERT JAMES PENNOCK, (ROB)
It is with overwhelming sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of ROB on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Rob was born on December 20, 1967 in Pembroke, Ontario to Anne and Mervin Pennock of Nakina, Ontario. Rob was raised in Nakina, Attended Nakina Public School and then on to GCHS, in Geraldton.
Rob's passion for equipment and big trucks, led his career to sand and gravel, then on to the Log Haul, operating his own contracting business out of Nakina. With the retirement of Merv and Anne, Rob and Sharon took over the family business, PTS Pennocks'. They continued operating with pride, and always honoring the name over the door. Rob's eternal desire to operate and drive equipment caused him to expand to snow plowing and gravel hauling once again. In Nakina, Rob was the "guy" and if not, he knew a "guy".
When not operating, working the store, or trapping minnows Rob took time to be "captain" of Sharon's pontoon boat on the local lakes. Rob enjoyed family and guests and friends on the boat." Life is short", he would say. Rob in recent years, made time to travel, Nascar races, family weddings, Texas life, visiting USA friends along the way and a couple Caribbean trips, they all brought a smile to his face.
Rob is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Courtney, stepdaughter Maegan, father Mervin, brother Bill (Susan) Pennock and their daughters Carlie and Brittany. Also survived by cousins Brent (Kathy) Frederick, children Sarah and William and Paul (Sheila) Frederick from Pembroke, Ont.
Rob is predeceased by his mother Anne, March 3, 2017.
The family of ROB would like to thank Thunder Bay EMS for coming to his rescue as well as the team at Regional Hospital, and the care he received in ICU, bed #19; "Exceptional!".
A celebration of Rob's life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in Nakina at the Community Centre.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be at a later date with a family service.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in honor of Rob to Nakina Sunrise Seniors Club, Heart and Stroke Foundation or
