Robert Tyre Obituary
Born September 29, 1932 in Winnipeg, Bob passed on in Victoria, BC on September 25, 2007 after a spirited battle with cancer. Survived by son Robert A. Tyre (Jane) of Petrolia, ON, daughters Patti Tyre of London, ON and Barbara (Stephen Baker) of Woodstock, ON. Bob was the generous and giving Grandfather of Rebecca, Arran, Kendra, Alexander and William. He is also survived by sisters Margaret Bistricky of Winnipeg and Joy (James Hogg) of St. Joseph, ON. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Roseann Tyre, parents Robert and Jean Tyre and sister, Bev Glasgow. Bob had an interesting and varied life from stock car racing in Regina in his early years to raising a young family on an island in Northwestern Ontario. The Tyre family moved to Fort William, (Thunder Bay), ON, in the late 1950's so Bob could pursue business interests with his longtime friend, Philip LeBrun. He later operated his own successful construction and demolition firm. One of his son's fondest memories is of Bob stopping a St. Lawrence Seaway excavation project in order to save and relocate numerous red foxes and their pups long before environmental activism was in vogue. He retired to the warmer climes of Vancouver Island in 1992. He lived at the Lions Lodge seniors' residence in Victoria where he enjoyed the friendship of many of his neighbours and appreciated the kindness of the lodge's staff. Cremation has taken place and the ashes scattered on the Pacific Ocean at Bob's request. Finally, sleep at peace, Dad. You will always be loved and missed by your family. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society."
