It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Roderick Goodwin on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at TBRHSC. Rod was born in Fort William to the late Effie and Fred Goodwin on January 17, 1954. He attended local schools and after high school moved to B.C., returning to Thunder Bay in 1998. Shortly after his return he met with former school mate, Ann Daigle, and she quickly became the love of his life, marrying on October 7, 2000. Rod was employed at Auto Parts Central. He enjoyed spending time camping and fishing at Whitefish and Kenogamisis Lakes. His special speckle lake remains a secret. Rod was a small engines mechanic loving to tinker with anything that wasn't working, from snow blowers to toasters, and anything in between. Rod is survived by his wife, Ann, stepchildren John-Paul Unger and Suzanne (Ben) Couturier and their children Myah, Layla, and Aiden, sister Janice Goodwin (Randy), parents-in-law Ed and Betty Daigle, brothers-in-law George (Elaine) and Jeff. Rod is also survived by numerous relatives and close friends here and in B.C. Thank you to Dr. Mary MacDonald for her care and compassion, the surgical staff at the Regional and all those who gave their best efforts to keep Rod with us. A gathering of friends and fellowship to celebrate Rod's life will be held on Saturday, October 14th at the West Arthur Community Centre, 1914 West Arthur Street from 2 to 4 p.m. Private interment will follow at a later date.

Ann and Family
My deepest sympathy on the loss of Rod. I was attending Northwood High School when I met Rod. Many fond memories while at high school and the times with Rod after school with other friends that will last for ever. One of the memories is that Rod always ate his hot dogs plain.
