RODNEY HILL Obituary


It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Rodney Harold Hill, on December 12, 2024, in Thunder Bay Ontario.

Rodney was born on April 15th, 1940 in Fort William, Ontario to Armas and Olga Hill. Rodney worked at Great Lakes/Bowater Paper Mill as a mason until he retired 30 years ago. Rodney enjoyed reading, watching his Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and Toronto Maple Leafs, spending time with family and his beloved grand dog Toby.

Rodney will be missed by his son Ryan, dog Toby; sisters Diane (Jack) Connelly, Janet (Joe) Parker, Hope (Buzz) Johnston; brothers Robert, Raymond, Edward, David, William, Brian (Frances); sister in laws Charlotte, Doris, and many nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers-in-law Brian, Kathy (Mark) and Jean. Rodney is predeceased by his parents Olga and Armas, his wife Maureen, sister Judy (Lorne), Doreen, Roberta and Dorothy; brothers Allen, John, Richard and Dennis; mother-in-law Mary and father-in-law Frank; brothers-in-law Jack and Michael.

A special thank you to the staff at Southbridge Pinewood, you will forever have a special place in my heart for the care you provided my dad, thank you for the care, heartfelt conversations, laughs and tears. Thank you to his "Medical Team" Dr. Tassone, Dr. Janhunen, Dr. Rahman, Dr. Silverberg, and Dr. McDougall as well as the nurses and support staff. He truly received top notch health care. Lastly, thank you to ALL friends and family (especially Diane and Sheryl) who supported Rodney over the past few years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 4th from 1-3PM at the Westfort Prozz. For those who are able to attend we ask that you wear your favourite football, hockey or baseball team colours or your favourite "going out sweats".

In lieu of flowers feel free to make a small donation to any local dog rescue.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

Uncle Rodney..you will be missed. I may not have seen you much in the last few years ,but all those years of you bringing me to your house for New Year's Day parades and my birthday will forever be in my heart and memories. Fly high, and free. Love you.
