Rosaire Castonguay Obituary
CASTONGUAY Mr. Rosaire Castonguay age 67 years of Thunder Bay, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2000 at St. Joseph's Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 12, 1933 in Castlemen, Ontario. He moved to Port Arthur in 1950 and began working for Abitibi, Northern Woods and Great Lakes in 'bush camps' between 1950 and 1963. He also worked at Keefer Terminal as a longshoremen for 35 years until his retirement at age 64. He belonged to the International Longshoreman Association. He was predeceased by his wife Ann in 1984, his mother and father Clara and Adriene Castonguay, his sister Fernande Bertrand and his two brothers Renee and Lionel Castonguay. He is survived by his children Jeannette Castonguay of Cape Coral, Florida and her sons Jeff, Adam and Matthew, Barb Filipchuk (Dean) of Kelowna, B.C. , and their children Chris and Carly, Louise Castonguay of Calgary, Ron Castonguay (Lesley) of Fresno, California and their children Justin and Sydney, and Michelle Browczuk (Steve) of Thunder Bay and their children Monica and Madeline. He is also survived by his brothers Aurel (Florence), Romaire (Doris) both of Lavalle, Que. , Yvon (Marie) of Calgary, Alberta, Jean Claude (Aurore) of Valleyfield, Que. and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a hard working man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his two precious granddaughters Monica and Madeline who he was very close to. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services for the late Mr. Rosaire Castonguay will be held on Friday, June 16, 2000 at 10:00 AM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Deacon Lyle Manary of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church officiating. Services complete in the Chapel, with cremation to follow. A private interment service will take place at St. Andrews Cemetery at 3:30 PM. Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph's Care Group would be appreciated by the family. A donations has been made to the Canadian Cancer Society in honour of Mr. Rosaire Castonguay by Everest of Thunder Bay."
