ROSARIA MANCUSO Memoriam

ROSARIA MARISA MANCUSO May 9, 1945 ~ July 25, 2023
It has been one year since the passing of our beloved Marisa Mancuso - a cherished wife, mother, nonna, bisnoona, sister, zia and friend. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and memory live on in the stories we share, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely. Rosaria's warmth, humor, quick wit, and boundless generosity left a permanent mark on all who knew her.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the family and friends who have supported us through this difficult time. Your love, kindness, and the sharing of cherished memories of our beloved mother have been a constant source of comfort and strength. We are forever grateful for your presence and support, which have helped us navigate this challenging year.

A special thank you to the medical professionals who cared for our mother with such compassion, understanding, and dedication throughout her journey. Our heartfelt appreciation goes especially to Dr. Marie Cappello, whom our mother loved so deeply. Dr. Cappello's constant communication through phone calls, texts, and home visits exemplified her dedication and special bond with our mother, not only as a medical professional but also as her goddaughter. Also thank you to Dr. Nigro, whose dedication and care to our mother over the years brought comfort and joy. She truly enjoyed talking with you and reminiscing about stories from the past. Lastly to Dr. Silverberg and Dr. Coccimiglio, for their understanding, patience and guidance. Mom enjoyed showing her appreciation for her care by preparing special dishes. It was not unusual to find them at our home picking up her lovingly prepared care packages. Your unwavering support and expert care brought great comfort to our family. Each one of you had a special place in her heart.

We also wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the pallbearers: Devon, Naz, Gregory, Ivo, Lucio, Tonino, Honorary: Marie, Michelle, Rosalba, Carmen, Lee, Silvano and the readers who helped to celebrate and honor our dear mother. Your participation made her funeral service truly special, and we are deeply grateful for your contributions.

We would like to give a special mention to Rosaria's beloved nieces and nephews, Tonino, Rosalba, Ivo and Lucio, who travelled from Italy and Australia. She was so excited for their visit and for everyone to be together. Even though it was not an ideal visit as she was in hospital, it brought her immense joy to see them in her last days. Your presence meant the world to her and brought light to her final moments.

Our thanks and appreciation go out to those who sent meals, baskets, and donations to various charities in our mother's name, as well as those who arranged masses. Thank you to Sharlene Bourdeau for making the in-memoriam keepsakes and the special balloons for the ceremony. Your kindness and generosity have been a great comfort to us, and we are touched by the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends.

Mom may be gone, but her legacy endures in the hearts of those she loved and taught. Her memory lives on in the recipes, laughter, stories, and acts of kindness inspired by her remarkable life. We find solace in knowing that her spirit continues to guide and inspire us.

~ With sincere thanks, Gregorio, Perino, Lina, John and Family

It was 2019 that I last spent time with my Zia. I stayed with her and Zio Gregorio. We had so many 'chin wags' and laughs day and night. Late at night Zio would go to bed and Zia and I would sit at the table and talk through the night until the next morning. We both had reasons for being night owls! We enjoyed each others company. I enjoyed helping out in preparing food with her like gnocchi and panzarotti (I think that's how to spell it!). Zia Rosaria was my mother's sister and she was like my mother. I remember one of our chats she mentioned her dislike of tattoos, so for the rest of my stay with her I made sure I wore shirts that covered my tattoos which she didn't know I had! Last year I made plans to see her again to spend time with her to chat with her and to cook with her but it didn't pan out like that! It was a great honor instead to be a pall bearer for my Zia. Rest in peace Zia, I miss you
