It is with both sadness and gratitude for a long and beautiful life, that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rosemary Bell, nee Merchant, who passed away peacefully on March 8th at the age of 98. Born on June 1, 1927 in Smooth Rock Falls, she lived a life filled with love, resilience and devotion to her family. She witnessed nearly a century of change and met it all with grace, strength and an unwavering spirit. Rosemary was a loving mother, grandmother/nanny, great-grandmother and friend. Her family was always her greatest joy. She had the remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, whether through her warm smile, her kind words or a seat at her table. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, strong faith, generosity and her love of baking. She was never one to turn down a trip to the casino, to play a hand of cards or grab a ride to camp to watch the birds and feed the chipmunks. Her stories, laughter and gentle guidance will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She spent 48 years as a volunteer at the information desk at the hospital as well as 78 years as an active CWL member. She is lovingly remembered by her children Leslie (Steve) Daniar, Michael Bell, Dawn (Allan) Korol, and Kim (Corey) Pientok. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kevin, Kyllie, Ben, Mark, Christopher, Robert, Samantha, Jodi, Madison, Spencer, Morgan, as well as 11 great grandchildren and many extended family members and dear friends, including Helen and Irene. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years Bill, son David, and daughter-in-law Tammy, her siblings John (Jean), Kathleen (John), Edwin, Don (Mimi). Our family finds comfort in knowing she lived a full and meaningful life, and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a
Charity of Your Choice or the Lady of Loretto Elevator Fund. May she rest peacefully, reunited with her loved ones who went before her. A drop in will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Sargent Family Reception Centre, 21 N. Court Street.
