ROWLEY ATKINSON Obituary

ROWLEY ATKINSON December 4, 1934 - October 25, 2025
Rowley Atkinson, 90 years old, of Thunder Bay, Ontario (formerly of Nipigon) passed away on October 25, 2025 in TBRHSC.

Rowley worked many years for the MTO as an equipment operator. His contributions helped ensure the safety of our highways for drivers. Rowley loved fishing, hunting and having a few beers with his buddies after work. After retirement he could be seen taking his daily long walks in and around the town of Nipigon. Due to ill health, Rowley moved to Thunder Bay in 2018 to be closer to his family.

Rowley was predeceased by his beloved wife Vera in 1995 and his daughter Bonnie in 2014. He was also predeceased by his parents Carl and Vivienne, his siblings Richard (Audrey), Nona (Wes), Kirby, and Gladys (Maurice), and by his in laws Carl and Aili, his sister-in-law Eileen, brother-in-law Dusty, sister-in-law Lenita (Alfred) and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his sister Carol, his daughters Bev (Len) and Brenda (Kevin), his beloved grandchildren Karlee (Brandon) and James and by his treasured great grandchildren Liam and Abby. Also surviving are his brother-in-law Reynard and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Rowley's request cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. The family would like to thank the staff of Sandpiper Unit at Southbridge Pinewood for their kindness and care of Rowley during his stay there. We would also like to thank staff and doctors at TBRHSC Emergency Department and 2B as well as the palliative care team for making Rowley's final days as comfortable as possible.

Special thanks are extended to Rick and Judy for their unwavering support of Rowley, and to longtime Nipigon neighbours, Ken and Betty Ann, for their enduring friendship.
