ROY NIEMI Obituary

ROY NIEMI
Roy Wilfred Niemi, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 94.

He was born in Port Arthur but resided in Kaministiquia, ON, where his strong work ethic and love for the outdoors were shaped early in life. For many years, Roy worked as a grader operator, a career he took great pride in, before retiring at the age of 65.

An excellent hockey player in his younger years, hockey remained a lifelong passion. In later years, he greatly enjoyed watching the game, cheering on his favourite teams and sharing stories of the sport he loved.

Roy lived in Nolalu, ON for more than 40 years, where he built a life filled with hard work, family, and community. In 2014, he and Bev moved to Kay Bee Seniors, and for the final 11 months of his life, he was cared for at Bethammi Nursing Home.

He will be remembered by his dedication to his family, his quiet strength, and the many roles he cherished as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy lives on through the generations he leaves behind.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, and his four siblings. He is survived by his wife, Beverley, his sons Larry (Shirley) and Randy (Sherie), his sister-in-law, Bernice, five grandchildren, Lia (Damien), Casey (Lauren), Craig (Kendra), Ryan (Natassia), and Laura (Banjo), eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
