Mrs. Ruby Marguerite Auger (nee Crossland), age 72, resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario passed away peacefully after a short illness on August 8, 2024 with family by her side.
Ruby was born on July 4, 1952 in Thunder Bay, Ontario at the Port Arthur General Hospital. She met her beloved Patrick Auger, a college student whom she married becoming life-long partners, bringing two beautiful sons, Patrick John and Robby into the world.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Patrick John and Robby (Karen); grandchildren, Alexis, Wyatt and Reese; sister Mary; sisters-in-law Mary Lou (Gerry) and Jean; brothers-in-law Raymond and David; nieces Catherine and Sarah; nephews Robin, Kirk, Tom, and Patrick Jr; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Patrick; mother Beatrice (Walker); mother-in-law Genevieve; sister-in-law Cathy and her brother-in-law Donald; niece Bonnie; brothers Pat and Bobby.
Ruby worked for Royal Insurance before she decided to become a full-time mother. She excelled at cooking and baking. She lived in many places, traveling with her husband with the bank, finally coming home to Thunder Bay. Ruby loved to travel with her husband and children and she enjoyed visiting her grandchildren. Her favorite foods were Chinese, pizza, strawberry milkshakes and birthday cake. She loved outings with her family, shopping for Christmas presents and wrapping them. Ruby also enjoyed Christmas baking, providing goodies for everyone.
She loved going to the Farmers Market on Saturdays and to Vanderwees at Christmas because of the decorations which she felt were magical. She kept her home and yard immaculate and she loved going out for coffee (x large with double cream), walks at the lake and Centennial Park. Ruby and Mary spent many hours chatting about their childhood and talking on the phone for hours. She enjoyed her visits on Sundays with her son Patrick and her Thursday lunches with Mary Lou. She loved when her son Robby, Karen and grandchildren visited Thunder Bay. Ruby enjoyed movies on her tablet, searching for good recipes on Pinecrest and playing her favorite game, Farmville.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and PSWs at the Thunder Bay Regional for caring for Ruby; St. Joseph's Care Group for their care during her brief stay; and to Harbourview Funeral Centre.
She began her journey to the spirit world to be reunited with her husband Patrick on Monday, August 12, 2024 when she was cremated.
At Ruby's request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life is pending for a later date.
