SCOTT HORDY Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of Scott Hordy announce his unexpected passing, after a brief illness, at the age of 49 years, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 with his wife Jen holding his hand.

Scott was born in Thunder Bay and was always proud of his East End roots. He attended St. Pat's high school (when he wasn't skipping school to go hunting). He recently received his 15 year award from Alstom (Bombardier). Scott loved all things athletic and was good at everything he tried, whether it be golfing, hockey, bowling and especially ball. He started playing (and excelling at) hardball at a young age, which continued into him being on many competitive softball teams. He had so many great memories of those days and was very proud that his kids both inherited his "baseball gene" and love the sport as much as he did.

Scott's favourite place to be was in the bush (not the forest), fishing, hunting, sitting around the campfire, listening to good tunes, quoting movies, stargazing with Jen (sticking it out until one of them saw a shooting star) and trying to flip the kids off the tube in the lake. Annual trips to Sandstone and Iron Range with The Hordy Family were "good times" and always ended with Scott trying to get another day or two of holidays to extend the trip. Whether heading out camping, on a road trip with Jen and the kids or just driving around town you could count on the tunes to be blaring and Scott to be singing along at the top of his lungs.

Scott is survived by his wife Jennifer, amazing kids Gage and Presley, parents Rick Hordy and Lauretta Morson, brother and sister-in-law Aaron and Chelsey (Reilah, Avaiya), nonna Clelia Morson, parents-in-law Don and Val Chepesiuk, brother and sister-in-law Corey and Kathryn Chepesiuk (Hayden) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Scott had so many friends that meant the world to him, especially his childhood friend Derek Nistico (Gucci). Scott's spot on the couch is being kept warm by his fur-baby Novi.

Scott was predeceased by his nonno Egisto Morson, grandparents Joseph and Vera Hordy, cousin Ronny Morson for whom Scott always carried a special place in his heart and other aunts, uncles and cousins. Scott will also now be reunited with his first fur-baby Chica.

The family would like to thank the staff of TBRHSC, particularly nurses Raegan and Jasmine who went above and beyond in Scott's care.

Please join us in celebrating Scott's life on Tuesday, March 19th from 3:30-6:00pm at the Unifor Hall, 112 West Gore Street. Tributes will be shared at 4:30pm. Scott wouldn't want anything too fancy so please come as you are (rock band t-shirts, baseball caps, camo are all welcome). There will be an opportunity to share stories about Scott so bring your best ones of those! Donations are gratefully accepted for Presley and Gage's education fund. Please contact Kobi-Lynne Perry at [email protected] for more information.
