SHARRON MCCULLOCH Obituary

The Toronto Blue Jays lost their biggest fan on Thursday July 13, 2023.

The family of Sharron McCulloch (Lavedure) are heartbroken to announce the death of our mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother after a brief but warrior like battle with Cancer. She passed away at 4 North St. Joseph's Hospice with her sister and granddaughter at her side. She was born in Rainy River on September 17, 1939, to Donat and Wilma Lavedure. She was the 4th of 5 children. She loved growing up in a small town and maintained many friendships from there throughout her entire life. She always loved to go back for reunions and to visit old friends.

She attended St. Michaels Elementary School and Rainy River High School. Upon leaving High School she went to Winnipeg to go to hair dressing school. After finishing, she went to Fort Frances where she worked briefly as a hairdresser before taking a job as a receptionist at the Rainy Lake Hotel. It was there that she met the love of her life, Donald McCulloch. Though he didn't make the best first impression, he managed to win her over and they were married on September 3rd, 1960, in Rainy River. After marriage they moved to Port Arthur to begin their life together. Sharron would eventually start working at St Joseph's Hospital as a ward clerk and was there for nearly 40 years, until retirement in 1999. She was well respected by doctors and staff alike. It was often said that the floor could not run without her.

Their family started in 1964 and grew quickly to 4 children. They raised their family with a love of sport and took an active role in guiding them in their pursuits. Whether it was hockey, swimming, figure skating, or golf, they were on board. Mom loved to be active, curling in her woman's league up until just last year. She was also passionate about sewing; making skating costumes, grad dresses, and Halloween costumes for anyone who asked. Above all, she loved to quilt and was spectacular at it, making beautiful keepsakes for loved ones.

Family was everything to Mom; Picnics, BBQ's, Reunions, playing cards, curling, travelling, and camping with dad, and of course watching their Blue Jays, so much fun. She never missed a hockey game, birthday, dance recital, guitar recital, or Gym meet or any event that would allow her to be close to her family. She was our queen, the heart and soul of our family, and was adored by everyone.

She is survived by her children Sondra Menard (Murray Butler), David McCulloch (Tammy Ezowske), Both of Thunder Bay, daughter Tammy Alexander of Port Lavaqua, TX. She is also survived by her greatest joy, her grandchildren. Brennan Menard (Alex), Ehren Menard (Kristen), Raegan Menard (Jordan), Camryn McCulloch (Max), and Ryan McCulloch. Step Grandchildren Aaron Butler (Keely), Amber Strey (Ryan), Bradie Butler (Morgan), and Olvia Ezowske. Great Grandchildren, Tilly, Oskar Jett, Scout, Logan, and Blake. She is also survived by sister Diane Richard (Ron), and Brother-in-Law Frankie McCulloch (Kathy). Numerous friends and relatives also survive.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2018, and son Kenny in 2003.

Special thank you to NP Erin Slowik for all your care. Also, the Staff on 3A and 1A, Dr. Bezanson and Dr. Hagarty as well as the exceptional staff on 4N at St. Joe's.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sharron McCulloch will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the Chapel of Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. In lieu of flowers and cards, we encourage you to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.

With the loss of Auntie Sharron our extended family has lost it's heart. She was the center of our family and she was always there for each and every one of us. If there was a celebration to be had, Auntie Sharron was always there to arrange it. Her love for us was unwavering, her advice always honest and to the point. She was such a strong and loving lady giving her time and amazing sewing skills to all she loved, and there were many. She meant so much to so many and my heart is absolutly broken at her passing. I will miss her every day as I have Uncle Don, such amazing people, a gift to all who were luck enough to have them in their lives.
Sending love, Bobbi and Family

I´m so heartbroken of the passing of my Auntie, she was my last rock, someone I could call and confide in and my kids could call upon her for anything especially sewing related. She was so understanding and full of love for everyone. I will miss her dearly and always remember my mom telling me how as a young one she was the only one I spoke to, so much so my other aunts and uncles often asked my mom if I could even speak. That shows you just how special she was. Love you Auntie now and forever
