SHAWN DOYLE Obituary

Shaun Patrick James Doyle passed away peacefully surrounded by love and light on April 24, 2024. Shaun is predeceased by his dad Mike, mom Lorraine, brother Tim, brothers-in-law Bob Hietanen and Tauno Hiiro and niece Karen Ann Hietanen. Shaun leaves to mourn his loss his wife and partner of 40 years, Shelly Doyle and his beloved son Keefer Doyle. The loss of Shaun will leave an empty space in the hearts of his brothers and sisters and their partners: Marcia Hiiro, Martin and Lorraine Doyle, Colleen Hietanen, Thea and Joe Fraser, Mona and Bob Portelance, Kevin and Debbie Doyle, sister-in-law Sandy Peck and partner Alex Bowler (who he loved dearly); nieces and nephews close to Shaun's heart include Taylor, Max and Amille, Angela and Anthony, Catherine, Chad, Dan, Shannon and Denise, Cassandra, Ed and Pam, Amanda and Chris, Charity and Craig, Chelsea and Robin and Jack, Tyler and Kendra, Nicky and Ron, Ben and Cali; grandnieces and nephews who loved "Uncle Shaun" include Annie, MacGuyver, Teagan, Taylor, Nathan, Allyssia, Timmy, Jillian, Jason, Rogen, Brayden, Brennan, Gabriel, Olivia, Aurora, Alexis, Mya, Lyndon, Tenleigh, Nash, Frank, Brad, Zachery, Ethan, Joshua and Jack.

Shaun's friends were many, from early childhood to elementary and high school, co-workers, in the community and neighbours who became friends. Shaun grew up in Kaministiquia, ON and spent parts of his life there. He ventured out to where he joined the Reserves for a time, spent time in Vanderhoof, BC and Longlac, ON, where he learned valuable work skills from Bob Hietanen that contributed to his entire work life. He settled in Thunder Bay trying his hand at running his own business "Total Wholesale". He worked for a time as a long haul truck driver and saw many parts of the country, and the United States. For the past 27 years or so he was employed by Firesteel Contactors, working in the bush, where he loved the landscape of the Boreal Forest, nature and wildlife.

He loved his family and was incredibly proud of his son. There was almost nothing he wouldn't do for others. This world has lost a husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and co-worker. He was loved immensely and will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace.

Thank you to the TBRHSC Cancer Clinic for all the support he received during his illness. Heartfelt gratitude to Shaun's nurse practitioner Evie Pietila (Anishnawbe Mushkiki), who not only followed Shaun throughout his illness, but personally reached out to extend her condolences for our loss. There are truly great people in this world.

As per Shaun's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Shaun's Life will take place at the Kakabeka Legion in Kakabeka Falls, ON Saturday May 4, 2024 from 12-3pm.

At Shaun's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to [email protected]. The funds will be used in Shaun's honour for the Doyle family legacy he holds near and dear to his heart known as "Doyleville".
