SHERRY BIENVENUE Obituary

Sherry Bienvenue passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Sherry worked at a tree nursery, the A&W on Arthur Street, and for Community Living Thunder Bay in 1991 and retiring after 24 years of dedicated work; she was a hard worker and could be called upon when help was needed. Sherry loved music, especially Elvis Presley. She was also a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and loved her border collies. Sherry was proud of her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved camping back in her happier days, travelling to the states with friends and Alex.

She was predeceased by her daughter Dianna Aiken; brothers Gary, Lou and Rusty; sister Ivonne; Lorne and good friend Andy Kimball.

The family would like to thank the past and present homecare workers for your exceptional care of Sherry. Also, to the police and first responders for their compassionate help during our difficult time.

Aww. So sad to read about Sherry passing.

We met and spent many hours 11am-7 pm daily from June 27- Aug 17, 2023 getting to know Sherry during her time at St Joe´s. She arrived 3 days after our mom the second week of June. She was a humble, kind lady who kept track of the days when our mom could not. She genuinely cared about the people who came into her presence and her sense of friendliness and humour would brighten the long hours in that room with four roommates where confidentiality had no hold. They all kept an eye out for each other. They shared stories from of family, childhood, through adulthood and how they came to be in that room together. Sherry endeared herself with all of us. During and especially after a 12 day Quarantine in mid July, that room became known as the party room to the staff; housekeeping, nurses, PSWs, Recreationists and various therapists
who popped by for an uplift during their busy shifts with the clients who tested positive. It was during that time that she was able to perfect her therapy and use her new red walker. Everyone cheered. .

There were many moments of laughter and song that welcomed new clients after the isolation. Sherry always requesting " You Are My Sunshine. "
We kept in touch long distance from September 2023 just before her discharge to return home April 2024. She was so happy to be back home with Ian, Jody, Alex and Brayden.

We last spoke the afternoon of April 13. Sherry was worried about Jody´s health but happy to have Brayden staying with her and Ian. She was proud of you all and the renovations you did on her house in ready for her home coming. She only had good things to say about you all; Ian, Jody, Alex and Brayden. We know you will miss her.
May she rest in eternal peace.

Sincerely Jim and Cathy
