SHIRLEY LAFONTAINE Obituary

SHIRLEY LAFONTAINE December 19, 1945 - December 9, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Shirley Lafontaine.

She was born on December 19, 1945 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. At the young age of 5, she travelled with her mother to Beardmore in the heart of Northern Ontario to join her father who had been working in the forest industry. She made many friends, attended the Beardmore Public School, Geraldton Composite High School and even won the local Winter Carnival Queen title. She was working at Grayden's Variety store when she met her future husband, Amédé Lafontaine. Together they raised a family and hardly spent a moment apart from each other. They exemplified the words "love, honor, and cherish each other for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part". Mom loved cooking, baking, eating generously buttered popcorn and many genres of music, especially the opera scene in "Bugs Bunny".

Predeceased by her beloved husband Amédé Lafontaine, her parents Leon and Suzanne Michaud, and cherished brother-in Laws Roland Brunet and Raymond Lafontaine. She is lovingly remembered by her children Gary, Danny (Tracy Ewasiw), Sherrie (Jason Hull) and Teejé. Grandchildren Jolene Lafontaine, Victoria and Marina Lafontaine, Hailey and Reid Hull, Claire and Carter Appelt, and one great granddaughter, Aspen Lafontaine, as well as by Mom's sister Charlene and many friends. Special thanks to the caring staff at Pinewood Court who took great care of Mom in her final years.

She spent the first 15 years of her life waiting for the love of her life, the next 57 years with the love of her life, and the last 7 years missing, and longing to be with the love of her life again.

Hug Dad for us Mom. We love you both.

When we were younger we always wanted Shirley to babysit us because she always cooked sliced potatoes on the woodstove cook top. My dad said it cost them more in potatoes whenever she would babysit.
You always commented that we had lots in common as your birthday was also my wedding anniversary. Rest in Peace Shirley. You will be missed.
