SONYA MARTIN Obituary

SONYA MARTIN
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sonya Martin at the age of 71, on March 7, 2025 at the TBRHSC. Sonya worked under Dr. Franchis and Dr. Dhurjon. She was very passionate about her job, as she would call it her second home. Sonya's hobbies were gardening, walks, singing, having a cold one while camping, and fishing with her late husband and sons at Whitefish Lake. Sonya had much joy in spending time with her grandchildren and their endeavours with Ukrainian dancing. Sonya enjoyed a good tune and coffee with her sisters, family, and friends. Also spending time at Walters and Donna's for BBQs, she would pick wild buttercup flowers and make pictures in the clouds with her niece Vanessa. She was very much loved and cared for by her sisters. Sonya was preceded by her mother Josaphine, and father Alec and her husband Alex (Sasha) in 2012. Sonya is survived by her sons Keith and Daniel Martin; her sisters Brenda (Klaus), Lynn (Kevin), and Trisha (Ed); her grandchildren KJ and Ryleigh and great granddaughter Freyja as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will happen at a later time.

Sonja's constant smile, gentle nature and genuine warmth will be missed. My heart goes out to her devoted and loving sisters: Brenda, Lynn and Trish. You are in my thoughts; as I know how tight you hold your memories.
