SOPHIE THOMPSON
October 3, 1924 - January 2, 2026
Sophie Thompson passed away at 101 years old, peacefully after a brief stay in the hospital. Born to Rose and Peter llijoe in Schreiber on October 3, 1924; she lived her senior years in the same Thunder Bay home that she raised her children in. Sophie proudly hosted many family gatherings, her home often overflowing with family. She will be remembered in her neighbourhood as a very friendly, helpful neighbour and was known for keeping in touch through letter and parcel. She will be remembered for working at McNulty's clothing store for 30 years and fondly described her co-workers as a work family. Sophie was a strong willed and determined person and overcame many obstacles. She will be missed by her family; and leaves behind Joanne Sentes, Barbara (Martin) Rourke, Craig Thompson, Gary (Cindy) Thompson and Debra (Brian) Laatu. Sophie is predeceased by her sister Melanie Tozer and her daughters Elenore (Larry) Wilson and Judy (Raymond) Niivila. She leaves behind a large legacy of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be cremated and put to rest at the Conmee Cemetery with the love of her life, Ken Cummings. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favourite charity.
